So not a bad week, but one that also has some justification! Stay with me, now.

I spent a bunch on jewelry. I found this site (well, Facebook found it and pushed it at me and I bit) where they make jewelry with prominent women or goddesses. I have always been a history lover, and I was OBSESSED with Greek mythology as a teenager. I was captivated by a few items, one a pendant of Livia, the first Empress of Rome, and a ring of Athena, Greek goddess of wisdom.

I’ve been a bit down lately. Tired, overstimulated, overwhelmed, pulled in 100 directions, and generally also dealing with lots of my own stuff too. So I felt like I needed some sort of talisman or totem, especially to keep me motivated at work and remind myself what I’m capable of. The ring is custom made and real gold, but I already got the pendant and I swear, I just grasp it and it feels powerful. I don’t care if it’s Dumbo and his feather – I’m here for whatever works right now.

I’m also taking the “spread out the cost” approach with my family, so got something for my Dad that’s useful for his current difficult phase of life, as well as my husband. Hubs really REALLY wants a hot tub to be our annual Spring “big house purchase” which is okay, but usually it also means we set our own gift level quite low. So this is half of the $100 we have allotted for one another. I like that we prioritize our living space and experiences over stuff for one another, and if we’re honest, we both struggle with what to buy the other anyway.  Bah Humbug!
